📈 The Kardashev scale
◐ Possible in theoryIn 1964 the astronomer Nikolai Kardashev ranked civilisations by how much energy they use:
- Type I — all the energy reaching its planet.
- Type II — all the energy of its star (a Dyson Sphere).
- Type III — the energy of a whole galaxy.
Humanity is not even Type I yet — roughly 0.7 on Carl Sagan's version of the scale.
GameplayThe research tree's fifth era is named after it. Finishing a Dyson Sphere makes you Type II.
