🔴 Star colours and lifetimes
✓ Real todayA star's colour tells its temperature: blue-white stars are hottest, red stars coolest. Heavy stars burn fast and die young; light ones sip their fuel for an unimaginably long time.
| Type | Colour | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| F star | yellow-white | 2–4 billion years |
| G star (the Sun) | yellow | about 10 billion years |
| K dwarf | orange | 15–45 billion years |
| M dwarf | red | up to trillions of years |
GameplayThe Galaxy panel shows each nearby star's type. The Last Sun of the universe will be a red dwarf.
